Potato chip manufacturer Frito Lay expanded their facility in Taber, Alberta. Due to the mountainous terrain the new addition to the building had to be built lower than the existing building. This posed a major issue as Frito Lay’s fork trucks were unable to move between the existing plant and the new edition. After careful consideration Frito Lay decided to overcome the obstacle by installing a pit-mounted Southworth Heavy-Duty Scissor Dock Lift (SW-DL16-59H).
In order to accommodate the weight of a fork truck and a loaded pallet, the lift capacity is 16,000 lbs, the end axel load is 12,000 lbs, the side axel load is
8,000 lbs and the rollover capacity is 16,000 lbs. The lift features a 72” x 132” platform that has a diamond plate surface, a beveled toe guard, lifting eyes and removable handrails. The low height is 16”, the vertical height is 59” and the raised height is 75”.
Frito Lay successfully created a leaner and more efficient working environment by installing the Southworth Heavy-Duty Dock Lift and are very happy with their investment.
