Bio Flame Briquettes of Chemainus, BC produces hardwood briquettes, an environmentally efficient alternative to heating homes. Their goal was to eliminate excessive bending and reaching by employees when de-palletizing skids of raw material and feeding the production machine.
Trans-Quip Inc. provided them with the PalletPal Fully Automated Spring-Actuated Level Loader. Pallets of raw material are placed onto the Level
Loader via fork truck. The weight of the pallet forces the springs to compress and lowers the pallet 9.5” from the ground. Workers can then access and de-palletize the top layers of the skid as they normally would if the pallet were sitting on the floor. As the raw material is removed from the pallet and the weight decreases, the springs begin to decompress and the scissor set rises. The workers continue de-palletizing at an ergonomically friendly height (Ergonomic Safe Zone), eliminating the need for bending, reaching and lifting from floor level.
The PalletPal Fully Automated Spring-Actuated Level Loader features a rugged tubular steel frame for loads up to 4,500 lbs, a wide base for free
standing stability and fork pockets for relocation by fork truck if required. The springs are heavy-duty, a dampener provides smooth, gradual raising and lowering without the risk of overshoot or bounce and the low-friction bearing-supported turntable allows for near-sided loading and unloading. This unit
is best used with uniform loads. For non-uniform loads the PalletPal Powered Hydraulic and PalletPal Powered-Pneumatic units are available.
