Nestle Purina PetCare Company is a global leader in pet food and operates in countries around the world. Their facility in Innisfail, Alberta required an ergonomic solution for palletizing 100 lb bags of pet food. Workers were having to move the bags from the production line and bend to stack them properly on pallets at floor height. By the end of the day, the repetitive work and heavy loads were taking a toll on workers musculoskeletal systems.
Since their facility is fully equipped with air lines, Trans-Quip Inc. suggested the PalletPal Fully Automatic Pneumatic-Actuated Level
Loader. Best used with uniform loads, the pneumatic PalletPal is adjusted via a valve, according to the payload. When the unit is in the upright
position, a pallet is added and workers begin to stack the 100 lb bags. When they want to lower the unit they simply adjust the valve. The scissor set then lowers the unit and workers can continue stacking bags at an ergonomic-friendly height.
With three units situated throughout the plant, Nestle Purina PetCare employees have successful eliminated excessive bending, lifting and reaching from day to day palletizing applications.
