Catalyst Paper Corporation, located in British Columbia, is one of North American’s largest mechanical paper companies producing quality paper and pulp products used world-wide. They were concerned about the health and safety of their maintenance staff. Two employees in the maintenance department had to go on leave to have knee surgery. When examining their day to day operations and discussing the situation with their employees, management determined that a lift table would be an excellent way of keeping maintenance staff from having to bend and reach while maintaining equipment and parts. It would also be an excellent way of keeping them from having to lay on the shop floors for repairs.
Trans-Quip Inc. provided them with the SW-LS4-36 Lift Table. With a 4,00 lb capacity, workers are now able to transfer parts to the lowered table and raise it to a comfortable working height and use the tables as a workstation. The lift lowers to 6 3/4″ and raises to 42 3/4″ with a vertical travel of 36″ and an elevating time of 42 seconds. The standard platform is 24″ x 48″ with a maximum of 48″ x 72″.
All Southworth lift tables have quality features for reliable performance an long service lift. To name a few: all pivot points have hardened pins that operate in lubricated-for-life, virtually maintenance-free bushings, heavy duty hoses with burst strength 600% greater than the hydraulic operating pressure and rollers that are captured in the base by means of retainers to prevent accidental separation or misalignment. Lift table options and accessories are also available with some of the most popular being: one touch/auto levelling for raising of lowering the lift with pre-set increments at the touch of a button, a toe sensing edge with a sensor that automatically reverses lowering motion on contact, and flush mount turntables that are only 3/16″ higher than the surrounding platform and rotationally lock when the lift is in the full down position.
Management and maintenance workers are very pleased with the Southworth lift table. They have eliminated the awkward and uncomfortable need of having to work laying down on the shop floor as well as having to bend
