Summo Manufacturing is a leader in the North American market for seating and safety restraint tubular automotive components. On the production
line, workers were feeling the strain when having to bend to place finished parts into container bins. Repeated bending can cause damage to a persons musculoskeletal system and Summo Manufacturing decided to find a solution to eliminate the need for bending.
Trans-Quip Inc. suggested the PalletPal Fully Automatic Pneumatic-Actuated Level Loader (SW-APP). Since Summo Manufacturing uses pneumatic air throughout the plant, the equipment was a perfect match. Adjusted via a valve according to the payload, the unit is raised to the desired height. A container is placed on the unit and parts are then added to the bin. When workers want to lower the unit they simply adjust the valve. The scissor set then lowers the container, eliminating the need for repetitive bending.
The PalletPal Pneumatic Level Loader is designed for use where pallet load weights vary widely and change frequently. The airbag spring combination provides virtually linear response, and the spring provides a measure of safety by supporting the unloaded turntable in the event of accidental air loss from the airbag. Fittings and tubing are simple with only two connections and the unit is equipped with fork pockets for easy relocation and provides a stable base that does not require lagging.
Other features include: a fully guarded, easily accessible air outlet and gauge, an air bag that is fully protected in the down position, a rugged lift table type frame for loads of up to 4,500 lbs and a low-friction, bearing supported turntable for near-side loading and unloading.
