Academy Services, a division of Nabors Canada in Calgary, AB, is the second largest oil drill rig manufacturer in North America. They were awarded a contract to build five rigs to be used in remote northern areas where conditions are harsh and extreme. Knowing the challenges and stresses personnel endure when working under such conditions, they were concerned when faced with the challenge of handling 4,000 lb pallets of white powder used in the drilling process.
Academy Services contacted Trans-Quip Inc. for a solution. Southworth’s spring loaded PalletPal, capable of handling loads of 4,500 lbs, eliminates the need for workers to bend, twist and reach when off-loading pallets. The level loader compresses with the weight of the pallet and extends as workers unload, maintaining an ergonomically friendly working height at all times. The turntable ensures easy access, eliminating the need for reaching.
