Canadian National Railway, located in Winnipeg, MB, approached Proceco Machinery Inc. of Montreal to design and fabricate equipment for their
Transcona maintenance facility. The lift would be used to raise, lower and turn a rail car—all in one motion—so that regular maintenance could be performed.
During the design process, Proceco contacted Trans-Quip Inc. for a power train solution. Trans-Quip supplied (4) WJ1135-192.5-INV-T4 Joyce screw jacks, complete with bellows boots, to manipulate both sides of the rail car lifter. Joyce bellows protect each screw from potential job-site contaminants. The screw jacks provide precision stop/start capability, and their low maintenance requirement is an additional benefit.
